Interested in Leadership and Independent Research? Apply to be a Laidlaw Scholar!

The Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Scholarship was established to help develop leadership potential in the world's top students. We are pleased to invite applications for our second cohort of Laidlaw Scholars!

There are three core elements in the Laidlaw Programme: a research project, leadership training, and building a long-lasting network for all future endeavors.

The scholarship is aimed at undergraduate students currently in their first year and second year of study at the University of Toronto across all three University of Toronto campuses. Through a rigorous selection process, students will be selected as Laidlaw Scholars, where they will have the opportunity to interact with, and learn from fellow scholars, and faculty advisors and mentors around the world. Laidlaw Scholars begin their engagement in the 18 month program with 6 weeks of independent research carried out per summer. All scholars participate in a year-long leadership program, after which they cap off their program experience with a final summer continuing their independent research.  Scholars will receive a stipend (up to $5000) per summer, which should be applied to independent research, carried out under the supervision of a faculty advisor.
