Student Life Events at St. George

First Generation Students & Experiences Living With Others During COVID-19

Nov 6, 2020 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM

Registration Deadline: Nov 6, 2020 02:00 PM

This event is for First Generation students who live at home, or have moved away from home, or live in any set of circumstances; and experience conflict or crisis with others. Students will: examine how systemic inequities and COVID-19 impacts housing issues; have opportunities to share (including anonymous) about different conflicts they are experiencing in their housing; receive Housing Services and community resources to help mange hardship; and engage in building community. Participants will join conversations facilitated by student Mentor Navigators, Access & Inclusion Peer Programs; Katrina Persad, Student Life Coordinator, Housing Education; and David Roberts, Associate Professor & Director, Urban Studies Program.

First generation students (and any siblings) are first in their family to attend post-secondary education in Canada, and make up approximately 25% of all students at U of T.

This event will be held virtually on Microsoft Teams. We will email details on how to join the event one day in advance.
Please note, here are instructions on how to download the MS Teams application. It works better when you use the desktop version rather than the web version. You can also download the Teams app to your mobile device. Once you have downloaded MS Teams, when you receive the calendar invite to Join (the) Microsoft Teams Meeting then all you need to do is click the link and you will be connected. We recommend that you make sure the technology works properly in advance. You can find instructions on how to Join a Microsoft Teams meeting at this page:
