This short series supports student wellbeing and mental health by providing a trauma informed, non-judgemental, caring space for female-identifying students that recognizes a breadth of yoga traditions and centers the diversity of experiences and ways of healing in IBPOC and spiritual communities.
We appreciate that trauma takes many forms including interpersonal, cultural, social and environmental. This program acknowledges that we have all experienced trauma in some form due to the pandemic.
In this session we dispel modern interpretations of yoga that focus on the physical form of the body. Instead we invite you to move at your own pace and develop a practice that works for you. Your instructor will offer options in class that you can choose to make the practice more or less physically challenging.
After participating in this six week series, students will:
- Know how to repeat mindful breathing and other conscious relaxation techniques on their own
- Be able to link several yoga postures and the breath together harmoniously
- Cultivate an appreciation of their own feelings and emotions and be able to hold these experiences in a self-compassionate way
