Please join us for a guest lecture by Robert Walsh.

This session delves into the scientific perspective driving the current interest in mindfulness across multiple sectors of society, including healthcare, education, and beyond. We will explore the connection between neuroscience, mindfulness, and mental health and wellness. Participants will experience foundational mindfulness practices to gain practical understanding of the potential impacts that mindfulness can have on their personal and professional daily life. All of this will be in support of participants learning to facilitate mindfulness for others.

Goals/Outcomes:

  • Understand the connection between neuroscience and mindfulness-based interventions
  • Explore the connection between mindfulness practice, self-awareness, mental health, and wellness
  • Develop and experience foundational mindfulness tools that can be applied in personal and professional settings


Rob is a mindfulness instructor and trained physiotherapist. He is passionate about bringing together the disciplines of mindfulness, body awareness, and academia to support the well-being of faculty, students, clinicians, and patients. He has practiced and trained in the field of mindfulness for over a dozen years, primarily with the Plum Village Community of scholar and Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Rob is part of a team of facilitators offering the Mindful Awareness and Resilience Skills for Adolescents (MARS-A) program for adolescents with chronic illness at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He also researches and facilitates the Applied Mindfulness Program for Medical Personnel (AMP-MP) for physicians and medical leaders. Since 2020, he has been teaching and developing a mindfulness curriculum for Physical Therapy students at the University of Toronto. With everyone he works with, he aspires to cultivate wellness through the application of mindfulness in daily life.
