LAIDLAW SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Scholarship was established to help develop leadership potential among students at prominent institutions around the world.  The core elements to the Laidlaw Scholars Programme include a research project, leadership training, leadership in action experience, and network-building.

The scholarship is aimed at full-time undergraduate students currently in their first year and second year of study across all three campuses at the University of Toronto. New scholars pursue research in a topic of their choice (6-8 weeks) in the first summer of the program. In the second summer, scholars have the opportunity to participate and put into practice their learnings throughout the program in a Leadership in Action summer. This could be through practical application of their research, or through a leadership experience with a global focus.

Scholars will receive a stipend per summer, which should be applied to independent research, carried out under the supervision of a faculty advisor.
