Reflective Planning & Realistic Goal Setting for the New Semester

Jan 19, 2023 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM
Accessibility Programming Space - 455 Spadina Ave, Suite 401 and MS Teams

Registration Deadline: Jan 19, 2023 02:00 PM

Many students find themselves feeling motivated to put their best foot forward at the start of the new semester. They may sit down with their syllabi and calendar, plotting out upcoming assignments, projects, and tests. Then, as the semester progresses, they find that the goals they set for themselves quickly slip away. In those moments, it's natural to feel frustrated and anxious. Often, we blame ourselves and our shortcomings, not realizing the semester plan was based in idealism rather than reality!

This session is for students looking to build a realistic schedule by learning how to assess their capacity, i.e., emotional, intellectual, physical, and time. We will explore flexibility and adaptability when planning for an unpredictable future. We will also discuss capacity-building tools when going through stressful times.

Format:  Reflective Planning & Realistic Goal Setting for the New Semester will be offered simultaneously in-person and virtually via MS Teams. Students are encouraged to attend for the full hour. The session will be run by an Accessibility Services Learning Strategist. Students are welcome to take breaks during the session as needed.

Participation: Being on camera, using your mic, or participating in the chat are all optional when attending virtually. We welcome you to participate in a way that works for you. There will not be breakout rooms. Students are welcome to bring their own questions to the event. Participation in person is encouraged, though not required.

Materials: Slides will be sent to attendees via email after the session. If attending in person, we encourage you to bring a laptop, tablet, smartphone, and/or notebook/agenda.
