Registration Deadline: Feb 21, 2024 03:30 PM

Indigenous peoples have sacred connections, respect, and inherent rights to their lands and resources. Yet they have been systemically subjected to the impacts of colonialism, land dispossession and resource extraction, and cultural genocide. In this workshop, we will examine the impact of the injustices inflicted upon the Indigenous and marginalized communities locally, within Canada, and around the world. We will also explore the connections between land and Indigenous peoples and understand Indigenous demands for environmental justice. This session will be co-facilitated with the Cultural Competency Training Officer from the Office of Indigenous Initiatives.

This event is part of the Indigenous Learning in Local and Global Contexts Program. Learn more about the programs by visiting the Center for International Experience - Events & Programs webpage (Under the "Develop" tab) and find out how the program works to get Co-Curricular Record (CCR) recognition.
