I Wish I Had Known: Navigating Work Study as an International Student

Mar 20, 2025 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM
Cumberland House, 33 St George St, Toronto, ON M5S 1A4

Registration Deadline: Mar 19, 2025 09:00 AM

Are you an international student curious about how the Work Study program can enhance your university experience? Or are you an international student who is participating in Work Study? Join us for this engaging panel and networking event, hosted by the Work Study Program in collaboration with the Centre for International Experience (CIE) at the University of Toronto.

CIE's "I Wish I Had Known" program is a student panel series that provides international students various opportunities to hear directly from their international student peers on specific topics relevant to the international student experience.

This session brings together international students who have participated/are interested in participating in Work Study and experienced supervisors who have supported their journeys. Through their stories and insights, you'll gain a better understanding of:

  • The benefits and challenges of being an international student in Work Study roles.
  • Tips for navigating the application process and building confidence in a new work environment.
  • Strategies supervisors use to create inclusive and supportive workplaces for international students.

Following the panel discussion, stay for a guided networking session where you'll connect with fellow international students, experienced Work Study participants, and supportive supervisors. Ask questions, share experiences, and build connections to help you succeed in your Work Study journey.

This is a great opportunity to explore how Work Study can align with your academic and professional goals, while also learning how to navigate the unique opportunities and challenges as an international student.
