About In the Field
In the Field offers an opportunity to learn about different careers in an industry by visiting an organization's workplace. Join us for a small group visit to an organization where you will:
- Explore a range of potential careers within an industry by hearing the career stories of employees.
- Build your networking by connecting with professionals from a range of departments and roles.
- See what a typical workday looks like, understand workplace cultures and get a sense of the work and priorities of the organization via a workplace tour.
About Rakuten Kobo

Because we believe stories shape who we are, and words can enhance and transform the world around us.
Who is this ideal for?
- Based on a first-registered, first serve basis:
- 3rd or 4th year undergraduate students from all academic disciplines
- Graduate students including Masters and PhDs
- Recent alumni (up to 2 years post-graduation)
- Students with the following interests: product design, content, business operations, e-commerce, finance, human resources, marketing and communications, research and development.

As a participant, you can look forward to …
- Learn about what Rakuten Kobo is all about (especially their workplace culture and values)
- Connect with folks that make up Rakuten Kobo and develop your network
- Examine and understand your own career goals in connection to exploring what Rakuten Kobo has to offer
- Gaining insights and advice on how you can build your own career path
- Meeting fellow student colleagues and learning from one another's lived experiences
In-Person | What you need to know:
• Ensure you register! Registration will close by 12pm the day before the event.
• If possible, please arrive a couple of minutes before the start time as events start on time and you don't want to miss important information.
• If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration to allow others the opportunity to participate.
• If there is additional capacity, individuals on the waitlist will be notified via email prior to the start of the session.
• Only University of Toronto students and recent graduates (within the past two years) are eligible to attend.
In-Person | How the event works:
• Movement involved: Alternatives to moving around the room are built into the agenda.
• Participation Expectations: Individuals will be sitting in small groups and participate in open discussions.
• Technology: The session will use PowerPoint slides. The room has one large screen at the front and the facilitator will be using a microphone.
• Materials: You do not have to bring any materials for this event. We encourage you to come prepared with questions and suggest you bring something to record your thoughts and notes
• Privacy: Workshops will not be recorded without the express permission of the participants.
• Washrooms: Accessible and all gender washrooms are located on the same floor, near reception.
