UTMSU From Learning to Leading Networking Event (POSTPONED to March 4th)

Come join UTMSU and the Career Center as we bring together UTM Alumni with Post Graduate Degrees and Industry Professionals from a variety of backgrounds, companies, and roles for discussions and insights on their journey from the classroom to the working world. Come hear the variety of pathways they took once graduated be it furthering their education with a Masters, Doctorate or professional program degree or having jumped straight into the working world. The event format is 2 separate panel discussions (one for Post Graduate program professionals, one for Industry Professionals) who will provide insight into their experiences, a break for food & refreshments and ending with open networking you can ask questions and connect with the speakers.

Victoria Holland,

Estate Planning, Estate & Capacity related Litigation Lawyer, NIKA LAW LLP

About Victoria: 

Graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Victoria continued her studies abroad in Australia at Bond University, where she obtained her Doctorate of Law. She is now working in Ontario as an associate at Nika Law, focusing on Estate Planning and Litigation. Victoria brings valuable insights to the panel discussion on international education, the highly competitive legal job market, and the importance of networking to make yourself standout. 

 

Zeelaf Fatima

Manager Community Relations, Hazel McCallion Line, MetroLinx

About Zeelaf: 

Graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology, Zeelaf furthered her education with a Graduate Program in Public Administration and currently working on her Master of Business Administration at Carlton University. As a current manager at Metrolinx, she continues to focus on the intersection of politics and policy reform in areas such as gender, racial, economic, and climate justice. As a panelist, Zeelaf offers valuable insights into the application of graduate programs in politics, as well as their relevance in both government and public-facing companies.

 

Mauricia Silva

Speech-Language Pathologist, Toronto Catholic District School Board / Wonderspeak Clinic

About Mauricia: 

Graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Biology for Health Sciences, Mauricia went on to continue her studies with a Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology. Currently working for the Toronto Catholic District School Board as well as a private speech therapy clinic working with both pediatric and adult clients. Mauricia brings insights and her experiences apply her post graduate degree to the world of healthcare.

About Tanveer: 

Graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Culture, Communication, Information & Technology, Tanveer quickly transitioned into the workforce as a UX designer. Her career path has led her to gain valuable experience working for startups as well as three major financial institutions: Scotiabank, BMO, and currently, TD Canada Trust. With experience in both small and large-scale companies, Tanveer offers valuable insights on navigating the professional world after graduation. 

 

Ahmad Marouf,

Consultant, IT Audit & Assurance, Deloitte

About Ahmad: 

Graduating with a Bachelor of Economics & Political Science Specialist, Ahmad found himself jumping into the world of Consulting at Deloitte as his first job. Having applied directly to a posting and being active in his job hunt while still in school, Ahmad brings his experiences working for a big 4 industry name and insights into their hiring process and making yourself stand out as a candidate.

About Omar: 

Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Marketing, Omar is a UTM alumnus eager to share his journey-from the classroom to leading leadership recruitment at the largest hospital in Canada.
