Black Futures: Lets Talk Careers in Law

Goal:
To inform Black undergraduate students about various careers within the field of law.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. By the end of this event students will be able to acquire at least two (2) pieces of industry knowledge to help them with academic planning;
  2. Students who participate will be able to distinguish three (3) legal careers to help inform their professional choices;
  3. By the end of this event students will be able to examine at least two (2) barriers that can be combatted with the help of a mentor;
Description:
Gain access and industry knowledge as we come together with Black lawyers to discuss their personal experiences and triumphs on their journey to their profession in law. Learn how they found community, mentorship and belonging despite anti-Black racism and socio-economic discrimination. This event offers an opportunity for Black students with an interest in understanding law, and/or may be considering a law degree, to gain access to knowledge experts and industry professionals as they consider pathways to careers in law. In addition to a panel, participants are encouraged to bring their own questions for the Q&A.
