Uni Prep Microcourse What is University Learning

This workshop is a part of the Uni Prep 4-part micro-course that will help you to explore what university learning is like and build your foundation for academic success at U of T. This session will: 

• Discover the differences between high school and university learning 
• Discover university-level and discipline-specific expectations 
• Identify and apply your strengths to this new adventure    

The Uni Prep micro course is made up of 4 sessions. "What is University Learning?"  is the first part of a 4-part micro-course that will provide you with the foundations for learning at U of T right before classes begin .You'll be able to connect with your peers, current students and learning strategists, and practice the skills you need to succeed.  

What is University Learning? will be offered at the following times 
August 16, 7 - 8:30 p.m. 
August 22, 12 - 1:30 p.m. 
We also encourage you to come to the other parts of the micro-course by registering for the sessions below You will receive a Co-Curricular Record credit if you complete all 4 parts.

  • August 18, 7 - 8:30 p.m. 
  • August 24, 12 - 1:30 p.m. 
• Activate Your Curiosity for Better Critical Thinking 
  • August 23, 7 - 8:30 p.m. 
  • August 29, 12 - 1:30 p.m. 
• Build Your Academic Resourcefulness 
  • August 25, 7 - 8:30 p.m. 
  • August 31, 12 - 1:30 p.m. 

 
This workshop will include a presentation followed by activities and discussion. Slides and resources will be shared via email after the session. 
 
What you will need & access:  

This workshop requires access to the internet for an uninterrupted hour of time although a call-in number will also be provided for a less participatory option.  
You can request the slides ahead of time (or after) to support your participation and/or learning.  
 The workshop will be presented in English with English and closed captioning available via MS Teams or Zoom. There is also a translation function for the comments.   
This workshops will contain interactive components. You might be invited to engage with the workshop using the chat function, virtual breakout rooms, online polling and will have the option to contribute using your mic and/or video functions.
