Description: 

This slow paced and gentle conversation explores elements and practices of consent within a wide range of healthy relationship dynamics. This conversation is geared towards individuals from a wide range of faith backgrounds & welcomes various levels of comforts, experience, and curiosity. Facilitated through storytelling and practical examples, this workshop explores how we build consent into our relationships, how we navigate conflict & set boundaries, and how we communicate our needs and desires. This event is a collaboration between the Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre and the Multi-Faith Centre.

Facilitator: Rania El Mugammar 



Facilitator Bio: 

Rania El Mugammar is a Sudanese Artist, Liberation Educator, Abolitionist, Anti-oppression Consultant , multidisciplinary performer, speaker and published writer. Her work explores reproductive justice, transformative justice & abolition, art as liberation and digital justice. 

As a writer, Rania's work explores themes of identity, womanhood, Blackness, flight, exile, migration, belonging, gender, sexuality and beyond. Rania's primary mediums are poetry, spoken word and oral storytelling. She is a published poet, storyteller and playwright. Rania is deeply interested in poetic form and the auditory texture of words as well as the visual/aesthetic impact of language and form. 

Rania is an experienced anti-oppression, abolition and liberation educator and consultant who is unflinchingly committed to decolonization and freedom as the ultimate goals of her work. She has worked extensively with contemporary arts institutions, STEM based enterprises, media organizations, educational institutions and community/grassroots spaces.

A Zoom link will be sent to all students who register for this event. For accessibility and confidentiality purposes, attendees will also be able to access the Zoom stream for this event at the Multi-Faith Centre in the Koffler House Building on 569 Spadina Ave, second floor in the Main Activity Hall, Room number KP208. This space is accessible using an elevator. The Zoom stream will be captioned for accessibility purposes as well.
